A Cacao Ceremony at Home? Here’s How!

A cacao ceremony can also be done at home if you are unable to attend a professionally guided ceremony. Here are some steps you can follow to conduct a cacao ceremony at home:

1. Choose your cacao: Look for high quality, organic raw cacao powder (or paste). Choose a cacao that you like and know you respond well to. It is also possible to use cacao paste or beans, but these are often harder to find (except for Spiruella of course)
2. Set an intention: Just like with a guided ceremony, it can be helpful to set an intention for your home ceremony. This could be something like opening your heart, finding inner peace, or strengthening your creativity.
3. Prepare your space: Create a quiet and comfortable space where you can sit or lie down undisturbed. Decorate the space with candles, flowers or other objects that create a positive and spiritual atmosphere.
4. Prepare your cacao: Follow the instructions on the package to prepare your cacao. You can flavor it with spices like cinnamon, cayenne pepper or vanilla.
5. Meditate: Drink your cacao slowly while focusing on your intention. Meditate as you drink your cacao and sit or lie down while you feel the effects. This can also be a good time to write or draw to record your experiences.
6. Closing: Close your ceremony by thanking yourself for this experience and what you learned or felt. You may also say a prayer, chant a mantra or light a candle to close the ceremony.
